A reign without power

Ahmad Shah's Iran was occupied by Russian, Ottoman and British forces during the First World War despite formal neutrality, and famine in 1917–1919 killed a large part of the population. Real authority passed to Reza Khan after the 1921 coup.

The Majlis deposed the dynasty in 1925 while Ahmad Shah was in Europe; he never returned and died in Paris in 1930.

Tehran-struck krans and tomans of the reign are technically competent and reasonably plentiful, but the political disorder produced irregular mintages and some genuinely scarce dates.
